Specialist Building Surveys

At RCI Technical Services we have a team with a diverse range of experience working within the built environment. We pride ourselves on being able to offer a high standard of bespoke services to our clients. Some specialist surveys we routinely carry out are:

Material Identification Surveys for EWS1 Certification:

The EWS1 form was introduced in 2019 by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveys (RICS), The Building Societies Association (BSA) and UK Finance. Its purpose is to allow property owners to confirm to lenders, valuers, residents and buyers that an external wall system has been assessed by a suitable expert.

RCI can investigate and identify the building materials and collate the relevant documentation to create a through wall construction schedule.

We can collect the information on behalf of chartered professionals qualified to sign EWS1 forms.

Alternatively, we can pass the information to our industry partners at Brooker Diamond Chartered Fire Engineers who are qualified to provide an EWS1 form.

Fire Compartmentation Surveys:

A fire compartmentation survey is used to assess the risk, within a building, of the spread of fire and smoke.

Compartmentation is used so that escape routes and high-risk areas can be protected to prevent what might otherwise be extensive losses.

RCI can assess and record a building's compartmentation.

Our fire risk assessors will check fire doors, service penetration, wall linings, ventilation and other relevant areas for compliance and condition.

We can then provide clients with a report that gives an overview on a building's fire compartmentation.

Digital Twin and 3D Virtual Walkthroughs:

RCI uses the latest in LiDAR laser and photogrammetry 3D scanning technology to create a digital 'twin' of a building and develop virtual walkthroughs which can be viewed on a desktop or in virtual reality.

We have created these walkthroughs for clients in industries from engineering to insurance and even marketing.

Our scanners are the best available on the market, and can be used to provide a detailed picture of a building's condition. They are advantageous over a traditional measured survey as they are accurate to within 2mm.

They can be exported to CAD and BIM.

Examples of the scans we can provide are available on request.

Please email us at surveys@rcitechnicalservices.co.uk to make an enquiry about any of the services listed above.

We are also happy to discuss bespoke needs if required.
